M.S., F-AAA, Audiologist
Clinic Nurse

Poul-Erik Transo graduated with his Master of Science degree in Audiology from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 1992. He had previously worked as a Nurse in a variety of medical settings and brought that very valuable experience with him when starting his own Audiology practice in late 1993.

After completing his clinical rotation and being awarded his certificate as a Clinical Audiologist, as a single private practice Audiologist he found many challenges, most of these not taught at the university but only by the many wonderful people who so valued his expertise and caring attitude.

Since those early days, Poul-Erik has continued his work helping thousands of people with a variety of hearing, dizziness, and balance problems in this rural part of SW Wisconsin.

In 2003 he was joined by his oldest son, Jens-Peter, who, after completing a one year on-the-job training and passing his state exam, was awarded his Wisconsin Hearing Instrument Specialist license.

From that moment in the Fall of 2003, things got rather busy at Associated Balance & Hearing Clinic and it was decided to construct a new 4000 sq. ft. building to be better able to serve our patrons.

In May of 2004, we opened our new clinic. A dream come true and with satellite clinics, in Platteville and Richland Center we have continued to reach out to make a positive change in the lives of people, young and old.

Poul-Erik is a native of Denmark, born and raised on the island of Bornholm in the Baltic. His mother worked for an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist for 25 years and his father, being afflicted with significant hearing loss in both ears due to Menieres disease, served as a role model by showing even severe impairment in hearing can be helped through the use of hearing aids and ongoing hearing rehabilitation.

Poul-Erik became a U.S. Citizen in 2000 and has two sons and two daughters, one of each now works at the clinic. He loves music, has designed and constructed the family home including plumbing and electrical work, and is finally also a Grandpapa to little Atleigh.
